When I Went Blind

I used to laugh
I used to cry
I recently stopped
And I don't know why
I used to be such a boisterous guy
(Until I went blind)

I lived my life
Like an open book
I'd stop the world
To take a look
I used to babble like a frothy brook
(Until I went blind)

Since I've been blind
The World doesn't seem
Half as beautiful
One tenth as green
I can't keep in touch with my everyday scene
(Since I went blind)

I've only been blind
A couple of weeks
My malady seems
To run in streaks
Until I see my ego leaks
(It's no fun being blind)

Blindness comes
And blindness goes
Like an evil devil wind
it blows
And no one save yourself really knows
if you're blind.

You just laugh
Pretend that you see
Awaiting the eventuality
That one way or another
You'll be
You'll be
(or remain blind)
